AccorHotels in share talks with Air France-KLM

AccorHotels has resumed discussions with Air France-KLM to purchase a minority stake in the airline.

“AccorHotels confirms having resumed its reflections on the matter, being at a very early stage of assessing the feasibility and potential terms and conditions which will be discussed with Air France-KLM in due time,” said AccorHotels in a media statement.

It was reported in French newspaper, Les Echos that the French government is considering selling its 14.3% share in Air France-KLM, and that this would be the portion which AccorHotels would be looking to acquire. This would be in line with the company’s strategy of being a global brand, which could effectively compete with the likes of Google, Booking.com, and Expedia in offering travel packages to market.

In a Skift report KLM ceo, Pieter Elbers confirmed that the likelihood of the rumoured Air France-KLM split is minimal.
