THE Airports Company South Africa recently held its Acsa Cape Town International 2004 Feather Awards for customer service. The awards evaluate airlines, retailers, food and beverage outlets, customs, immigration and passport control and service providers such as car hire operators. Cape Town International Airport’s (CTIA) customers, including both passengers and visitors, were polled in four consecutive market research surveys between July and October. 1Time, one of South Africa’s two low-cost airlines, was named ‘Domestic Airline of the Year’; South African Airways was named the ‘Best International Airline’, while LTU won a special ‘General Manager’s Award’ for its contribution to the Cape Town airport experience. National Alamo was named best car hire operator. Speaking at the awards, CTIA acting general manager Girish Gopal said that the awards are a means to recognise and encourage the best service in every category. (Darren Sandras)
