AF and TAP strikes to overlap BA strikes

PASSENGERS could be faced with more strike woes as TAP pilots and Air France cabin crew have also announced dates for planned industrial action. According to media reports, unions representing Air France cabin crew are planning a ‘walk-out’ for three days starting March 28 to protest against changes to working conditions on short- and medium-haul flights. Meanwhile TAP pilots have announced a strike from March 26-31. Both the Air France and TAP strikes will overlap with British Airways’ cabin crew’s second wave of strikes scheduled for March 27-30. TAP has issued a statement saying the airline is making every effort to avoid a strike but is evaluating measures to ensure that customers who may be affected are provided with transportation to their destinations where possible. The airline said that passengers already booked over the planned strike period could change their flights to those operating outside the strike period. Jeanette Phillips (jeanettep@nowmedia.co.za)
