AFRICAN Pride Hotels, an exclusive portfolio of properties that fall under the Protea Hotel Group, has announced the development of its first hotel in the East-African city of Nairobi, Tribe – The Village Market Hotel. The 142-room property will open in late august in the exclusive Village Market shopping centre. “This property is situated in an upmarket residential area in Nairobi in the sought after area of Gigiri,” says Nicholas Barenblatt, key account manager, “Our biggest drawcard is that with the property being in the Village Market, guests can walk straight out into a secure shopping centre.” Barenblatt adds that the hotel is styled differently to its surrounding competition saying that the hotel will have a more contemporary design as opposed to the Victorian and Colonial feel of other hotels in the city. “It was based on the same style as the Melrose Arch Hotel,” said Barenblatt. The rooms will be divided among standard rooms, apartments and suites. All of the rooms will be fitted with high-speed internet access. The property will have a restaurant, Epic, and bar and lounge area. The hotel will also utilise facilities in the shopping complex such as the gym and children’s activities.
