THE initial response to Asata’s Professional Programme has exceeded its initial projections. The programme has already attracted 2 300 consultants who have signed up and completed the skills audit on the Asata website, said Jacqui McKnight, Professional Programme manager. McKnight was speaking during the first round of workshops in Johannesburg. The Durban workshop is taking place today (July 27) and they will finish off in Bloemfontein on July 31. Punam Hari, Virgin Atlantic fares and pricing analyst, provided an informative presentation on the costs airlines are incurring due to a lack of proficiency in the GDS systems, while Michael Jackson’s topic was ‘Using technology to your advantage’. More workshops are planned for later in the year. If you still want to take part in the programme, go to the Asata website and sign up. The programme is specifically aimed at individual consultants and your agency does not need to be an Asata agency if you wish to participate. Lucy Siebert (lucys@nowmedia.co.za)
