A PRIVATE-ISLAND destination, which promises a mix of high-luxury and high-sustainability tourism, is under development in the Bahamas. Star Island will offer five-star luxury resort residences and private homes built from sustainable materials and decorated with eco-furniture as well as upscale facilities such as a spa, restaurants serving organic foods, bars, pools, tennis courts and a 'no-fuel' marina. The objective of the project is to build a 'green' tourist destination that harnesses natural energy sources. The resort should be complete by late 2009. This is according to Travelinfo’s City Alerts, a unique reference tool and global travel advisory guide that warns and informs. City Alerts covers the latest travel tips and info for over 315 cities in over 161 countries.
