THE Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) board will take disciplinary action against its suspended ceo, Trevor Abrahams. Abrahams was suspended last month amid serious corruption allegations. The board met Transport Minister, Dullah Omar on Monday (January 13, 2003) in which the minister expressed his concern at the fact that the report of the forensic investigators was leaked to the media. In a statement, Omar said he believed in transparency, but no one had the right to leak the report. The minister said that any wrong doing or irregularities must be investigated and dealt with, and that where necessary, appropriate disciplinary steps should be taken. Media reports claimed that amongst other transgressions, Abrahams awarded CAA contracts to an event management company which he co-owns with his wife. (Miguel de Sousa)
