Cape Town joins another exclusive club

LATE last month, saw Cape Town join another international club - 'Most Beautiful Bays in the World' at a world convention held in France. After registering Table Bay for consideration by the association in June last year, Cape Metropolitan Tourism ceo, Rick Taylor, was last month invited to the first world convention of the association in Vannes, France where Cape Town was officially welcomed as a new member. Says Taylor: "The aim of the association is to preserve, understand and promote recognition of the world's most spectacular coastal areas, of which Cape Town is proud to sport one of the most historical and picturesque." More than 28 countries around the world have joined the association and include world famous bays such as San Francisco in the USA, Bantry Bay in Ireland, the Gulf of Morbihan in France, Rio Bay in Brazil, Diego Suarez Bay in Madagascar and the Geiranger Fjord in Norway. Cape Town was recently also welcomed as a member of the Great Wine Capitals of the World network. (Miguel de Sousa)
