Charles de Gaulle satellite terminal opens

A new terminal will open at France's largest airport on 28 June. The S4 satellite terminal is part of CDG's Terminal 2E. It has a host of passenger facilities and is intended to make the airport more attractive to long-haul travellers.

CDG S4's bars, restaurants and shops cover 6,000 square metres and boarding lounges take up over four times that. It's designed to exclusively handle long-haul flights and can handle 16 large airliners simultaneously. It's also expected that, ultimately, Charles de Gaulle's new satellite terminal will add 7.8 million more passengers a year to the airport's current 60+m annual total. An Aeroports of Paris design, the S4 satellite terminal is the latest addition to the sixth-busiest airport in the world and the second-busiest in Europe, behind London Heathrow.
