Delta offers ‘cheaper’ one-way Awards

Delta Air Lines has updated its SkyMiles programme, making it easier for travellers to redeem Awards at lower travel prices.

The airline says it has implemented several changes to improve the programme. SkyMiles members will now have access to lower one-way Awards, improved tools for booking Award travel, and the ability to earn Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) on partner airlines.

New one-way Award tickets can be booked for as little as 10 000 miles plus taxes and fees, available until December 31, 2015 for travel in selected US, Mexican and Caribbean markets. Customers can also now fly to several award destinations with a 21-day minimum advance purchase.

"We continue to adjust the SkyMiles programme to give members more value and options, including making it easier to redeem more award travel at lower prices," says Karen Zachary, managing director of SkyMiles.
