El Al will resume operations between Johannesburg and Tel Aviv from May 6, initially with one flight a week.
The SA-bound flight will depart Tel Aviv on Thursdays at 23h55, arriving in Johannesburg OR Tambo at 07h50 the following day.
The northbound flight will depart Johannesburg on Saturdays at 21h30, arriving Tel Aviv at 07h05 the following morning.
The single flight per week will continue up to the end of June. Thereafter, the airline says it will act according to demand.
Passengers should be at the airport three and a half hours prior to departure time.
Foreign passport holders still require permission to enter Israel – this needs to be obtained from the Israeli Embassy. Israeli citizens are referred to the guidelines of the Israel Ministry of Health website.
