Expansion on the cards for US airports

ACCORDING to Airwise, nearly two dozen of the US’s fastest-growing airports will need to build new runways, expand terminals or boost capacity in other ways to meet demand over the next 20 years. Many of the airports identified in a Transportation Department study - like Tucson, Arizona, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, Florida - are in fast-growing southern and southwestern states. The study also concluded that Chicago O'Hare, New York LaGuardia and Atlanta Hartsfield have serious capacity problems that need to be addressed, while O’Hare was named as the most congested airport in the country.
