Exsa elects woman to represent exhibition industry

THE Exhibition Association of Southern Africa (Exsa) recently announced the newly elected chairman and executive committee. Carol Weaving, managing director of South Africa RAI, who succeeds Deon Viljoen of the Sandton Convention Centre, will be the first woman to have been elected as chairman of Exsa since the association began representing the exhibition industry in 1980. Based in Gauteng, Exsa is a non-profit organisation representing venue operators/owners, exhibition organisers, contractors, designers and service suppliers. Says weaving: "We have come far in the past year, under the chairmanship of Deon and I look forward with great anticipation to working with the new, dynamic exco and the very capable Exsa team consisting of Shirelle Raubenheimer and Mandy O'Connor. With South Africa becoming a favoured conference, exhibition and events destination, we are going to be faced with many opportunities and exciting developments." (Miguel de Sousa)
