Fast-track golf complex up to par

THE next phase of the 18-hole course on the R350m Sparrebosch golf complex, located on top of the Knysna Heads in the Western Cape, will open three months ahead of schedule in September. Spokesperson for Sparrebosch, Liesel Claus, says the first nine holes of the 18-hole American Ronald Fream-designed course have been open to visitors since December 1, and have proved extremely popular among tourists, as play is not restricted to members. The clubhouse will open later this week once the "final touches" have been seen to. Other plans for the Mediterranean-style complex include a small luxury hotel and a residential area, which should be completed by 2001, according to Claus. (Adele Mackenzie)
