A number of passengers are demanding refunds from flyafrica Zimbabwe after hundreds of flights were cancelled because of legal disputes between the airline and its Zimbabwean partner.
An estimated 15 233 passengers have had their travel plans affected in some way from the recent suspension of operations at flyafrica Zimbabwe, which has caused flight cancellations between Johannesburg and Harare over the past few weeks.
Of these, 7 600 people have so far requested refunds, with 4 784 of them having received their refunds to date, according to flyafrica.com ceo, Adrian Hamilton-Manns.
One client sent email correspondence to TAM asking for an update on the situation as they had not been able to reach the airline themselves. Another source told TAM that a considerable number of unhappy clients have applied for refunds but are yet to receive them.
In response to this situation, the airline has released an updated refund application process for those passengers who booked themselves (not through an agent). “The new application process seems to be working efficiently,” says Adrian.
“Tickets booked through the GDS will be refunded first by the GDS, and flyafrica will refund the GDS thereafter,” he says.
