France reels them in

MORE South Africans are choosing France as a holiday destination with arrival figures last year up 8,3% compared to 199 and totalling 69 000 visitors, says Johannesburg-based French Tourist Office director, Gigi Formanek. "The depreciating value of the rand has created great awareness that France is a value-for-money destination for visitors on a tight budget." The French Tourist Office website www.franceguide.com has been upgraded and provides a wealth of information on ski and golf resorts, canal cruises, upcoming cultural and sporting events, accommodation, Paris and its regions. *France has retained its position as the most popular tourist destination worldwide with 75m visitors in 2000.
