George to host Sports Carnival

GEORGE, in the Western Cape, will host a unique carnival from September 30 to October 3, called the Sports Carnival. Although ‘tagged’ as a Sport Carnival, the organisers promise a range of activities will be available to appeal to visitors with other interests. For the sports mad there will be a range of events to participate in, including cycling, running, a triathlon or motor racing at the George Race Track. The Oppie Pottie music festival will allow South African artists to take to the stage and entertain the crowds, while the African Food Fest will allow visitors to taste regional flavours. Other activities will include a sports quiz, and a fashion show using South African sports stars to model the latest trends in popular branded sportswear. A health expo will also be held with health services providers from George taking part. (Lucy Siebert)
