DURBAN’S International Convention Centre and local hotels have signed an updated charter that aims to make the city more competitive when bidding for international conferences by offering organisers preferential, uniform rates. According to the ICC, this adds value to its product and is the only agreement of its kind in SA. ICC’s ceo, Miller Matola, said a similar charter launched several years ago had been successful, but the latest one was upgraded and far more competitive. Participating hotels groups are: Southern Sun, Three Cities, The Hilton Durban, Protea Hotels, Gooderson Leisure Corporation, City Lodge Hotels and Raya Hotels – The Balmoral.
