Global hotel group embraces SA technology

CVS TravelHost International (Pty) Ltd, a locally based IT company supplying in-room entertainment, Internet and Pay-TV to the hotel industry, has secured a contract to supply the Melia Group of Hotels in Mexico with TravelHost - the fully interactive Pay-TV system. CVS says their products will be installed at Melia properties in Mexico and then at other group hotels in Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Taiwan, Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic - in total 285 fully-owned properties worldwide. CVS has been operating in South Africa for the past two years and is currently in the final stages of a Nasdaq listing. Its Pay TV and GuestNet Phase 1 system has been installed at 15 hotel properties in Southern Africa. Last year the company locally developed software for a new digital video server which allowed for digital MPEG 2 playback of movies providing hotel guests with better picture and sound quality.
