If you work in a mid-sized corporate, chances are your office has a green committee of some description. It’s still a bit of an indictment that these functions tend to be seen as a voluntary extra for businesses rather than the sort of thing you would consider getting professional consultants in to do, but there is value in the informal aspect as well. In most green committees, the primary benefit lands up being in exposing the committee members themselves to green thinking, which is not ideal, but is better than nothing. Try to make all the changes that your committee proposes conform to two basic principles: they must save your company money and they must require no (or very little) extra effort or time. Only projects that can achieve those two things will have any chance of being sustainable. Source: Going green: 365 ways to change our world by Simon Gear
