WHILE they were not able to get flights to Johannesburg operational by the end of the year as hoped, Gulf Air still has its sights set on the SA market. Speaking at WTM, Richard McDonald of Gulf Air, based in London, confirmed that the SA route was still a priority for the airline, with the airline hoping to start flights by the end of the first quarter of 2004. He said the delays were due to scheduling issues between their hubs of Muscat (Oman), Bahrain and Abu Dhabi (UAE) with London and Johannesburg, rather than problems with slots. (Corin Baker)
