Heathrow Express braces for strike action

Heathrow Express is staring down the barrel of a 48-hour strike on April 29.

According to ">Travel Weekly, members of the rail, maritime and transport union are planning a walkout for 03h00 on April 29. This comes after a dispute around the company’s plans to reorganise its workforce, which unions believe will threaten over 200 jobs.

Heathrow Express was reported as saying that they still hoped to resolve the dispute, but they do have a contingency plan in place should the strike action go ahead.

What’s more, the strike is scheduled to take place mere hours after London underground workers are supposed to carry out five days of strike action as a result of ticket office closures. Rail, maritime and transport members of the London underground are planning a walkout of their own from 21h00 on April 28 and again on May 5 for a further three days.
