Hilton upgrades loyalty programme

Hilton now offers members of its loyalty programme, HHonors, new perks, including milestone bonuses, elite rollover nights, and elite status gifting.

For every $1 (R12) spent on stays, HHonors members will earn percentage bonuses based on their membership level. Silver members will earn a 20% bonus, Gold members an 80% bonus, and Platinum members will earn a 100% bonus.

The new Milestone Bonuses will see members receiving 10 000 points for every 10 nights stayed, after reaching the benchmark of 40 nights stayed in a calendar year. Members who spend 60 nights will then receive an additional 30 000 points. These milestone bonuses are not a limited-time offer, and no registration is required. There is also no cap, which means that the more often a member stays, the more points he or she will accumulate. However, unlike base tier points, these bonus points will not count toward earning a higher tier status.

Hilton has also introduced Elite Rollover Nights, meaning that at the end of the calendar year, any qualifying nights in excess of those required for the member’s elite status level, will be counted toward the elite status qualification for the following calendar year. For example: if a member reaches Gold status after spending 10 nights, and ends the calendar year with 30 nights, the extra 20 nights will roll over into the following year. All Elite members are eligible for rollover nights.

There will also be an elite status gifting system in place. Members must have stayed at least 60 nights in a calendar year to be eligible, and they can then gift their Gold status to a friend or family member, provided the person is also part of the HHonors programme. If a member stays more than 100 nights in a calendar year, the gift will automatically be upgraded to Diamond.
