Hotel re-names

SIMON'S Town Waterfront's 26-room Quayside Lodge hotel has been re-named the Quayside Hotel. Manager, Jeremy Wagner, said the new name reflects the fact that the property is "a great deal more than a country retreat". It is these days, he said, a major conference venue and will host some 40 or more conferences in the year ahead.
"The encouraging aspect of the last year has been the growing awareness that it is not essential to stay in the CBD or in the Waterfront if you wish to see the Cape. There is also a growing realization that the decentralised venues, like Simon's Town, are often both more pleasant and less expensive. All this augurs well for the future of hotels like ourselves, especially those on the coast or in the winelands."
