IATA and WTO produce new data

THE International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the World Tourism Organization (WTO) have pooled their information to create a joint publication – General Guidelines for using Data on International Air-passenger Traffic for Tourism Analysis. This practical publication, with information derived from comprehensive records of flight arrivals and departures, has been developed for the purpose of analysing tourism. The information generated by both organisations will demonstrate the nature of trends in the air travel industry providing a database for estimating the size and behaviour of the main tourist generating markets. The publication is apparently not only directed at professionals in the statistical and marketing research fields, but is intended to meet the different needs of as broad an audience as possible. Copies can be obtained from WTO or the Departure of Publications. (Heather Ruddock)
