LOW-FARE US airline Independence Air has signed a contract to purchase 15 Airbus aircraft. The deal includes orders for 10 A319s and five A320s and the first delivery will be an A319 in September this year. Independence Air’s A319s will seat 132 passengers in a single class, be fitted with leather interiors and have 24 live satellite television channels in every seatback. The airline intends to use the Airbus aircraft on long-haul routes from Washington’s Dulles International Airport to destinations in Florida, the Midwest and the West Coast. (Lucy Siebert)
