LEXICON Attorneys will be hosting a Tourism Law and Management Seminar at the Brenton On Sea Hotel on December 3. The seminar will cover the rules governing electronic business Transactions. This is the second presentation of a similar seminar which took place in Port Elizabeth earlier this year. The seminar will be opened by Michael Bertram, ceo of Knysna Tourism, who will speak on 'Relationship Marketing'. Other speakers include: Patrick Vrancken, Professor of Law and head of the Tourism Law Unit at the University of Port Elizabeth, will present a paper entitled 'Tourism Law,' which is based on his new book "Tourism and The Law In South Africa." Michael White, who is the md of LexIcon Attorneys in Port Elizabeth, will speak on 'E-Law and The Tourism Industry' - a subject which affects almost all tourism businesses - but one that's so new that very few entrepreneurs have yet been able to learn about it. Dr Deon Erasmus, the head of the Department of Public Law at Vista University and a director at LexIcon Attorneys, will present a 'Labour Law Update,' which will include a discussion on HIV/Aids in the tourism workplace. Freelance writer, Martin Hatchuel, will talk on 'Tourism and the Media,' and will be looking at issues such as media planning (advertising, press releases and press campaigns); what makes a story newsworthy; dealing with negative press and preparing for dealing with the unthinkable (attacks on tourists, accidents, etc). Gavin Courtenay of Safari & Tourism Insurance Brokers will speak on 'Tourism and Insurance,' with special reference to the needs of operators and adventure tourism. Cost, including lunch and teas, is R295 per person, and booking is essential. The seminar will begin at 09h30 and should end at around 16h00.
