LOW-FARE carrier kulula.com yesterday announced plans to start flying to more destinations in South Africa and also unveiled its new Boeing 737-200. New destinations that the airline is interested in and is conducting feasibility studies on are: Bloemfontein/Cape Town, Johannesburg/Nelspruit and Cape Town/George/Port Elizabeth/Durban. “Low-fare airlines in the US, Europe and Australia have found that destinations with populations of between 500 000 and one million have little competition and that volumes can be grown dramatically by the introduction of low fares,” said executive director, Gidon Novick. kulula.com’s 118 seater Boeing 737-200 is being leased from Safair and adds to its fleet of four 150 seater MD82’s. “The smaller 737 provides us with the opportunity to explore smaller routes and build our network even further,” added Novick.
