TOURISM KwaZulu Natal hopes to boost industry transformation by providing exposure for small, medium and micro enterprises (SMME) at World Travel Market in London. The provincial tourism authority is currently providing delegates and visitors to the exhibition, with an insight into the cultural diversity and attractions of the province in an effort to woo tourists, visitors and investors to the Zulu Kingdom. TKZN ceo, Gareth Coleman; marketing communications manager, Iris Francis; events marketing co-ordinator, Amanda Feher and SMME co-ordinator, Thomas Mathibela are representing the authority at WTM which started today (Monday). Francis said: "Our participation in this exhibition is important as the WTM's undeniable strength has always been its ability to attract a quality business audience. "SMMEs have the ability to contribute to economic empowerment and poverty alleviation through sustainable job creation and it is extremely important that this sector be exposed at an international platform like WTM. "We believe that the transformation component of the tourism industry is vital to the growth of our provincial economy and we hope to secure investment for this sector at the travel market." "The UK is our biggest and primary international source market. It is therefore crucial that we use this invaluable marketing opportunity to renew existing relationships and forge new partnerships within the tourism trade." Francis said TKZN in partnership with the International Convention Centre, Durban Africa and several private stakeholders would host a dinner for 100 British tour operators to present new products and attractions in the province.
