AN estimated 10 000 visitors, including about 3 000 foreign delegations representing more than 25 countries, are taking part in this year's South African International Trade Exhibition (Saitex), reports SouthAfrica.net. Saitex 2004 will take place at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg from October 5 to 8 October and is reportedly the largest international trade platform in Africa. The event is hosted annually by Kagiso Exhibitions in association with the department of trade and industry and the Gauteng Economic Development Agency. This year's exhibition, with a focus on emerging market economies, has attracted the world's major trading regions, showcasing over 400 exhibitors in various sectors. China will again be Saitex's largest foreign exhibitor this year, with over 100 companies at the Chinese pavilion showcasing a range of products. South Africa is now China's largest trading partner on the continent, and the only African country within China's top 25 trading partners worldwide. (Lucy Siebert)
