AIR Mauritius has reminded the trade that Mauritius is introducing a passenger fee for all journeys not originating in Mauritius, with effect from January 20. The tax must be collected by airlines flying to Mauritius, from January 20. The fee is to be collected at point of sale, and must be included on all tickets issued on or after this date. If this tax has not been included in the ticket, this amount will have to be paid on departure directly by clients at the airport. For all other passengers whose journey originally starts from a country other than Reunion, Madagascar, Seychelles and Comores, the tax for children aged two and above but below 12 years is MUR350 (R70) and for passengers above 12 years it is MUR700 (R140). For passengers whose journey originally starts from Reunion, Madagascar, Seychelles and Comores, the tax for children aged two and above, but below 12 years, is MUR150 (R30); and for passengers above 12 years it is MUR300 (R60). Refer to Travelinfo for more information. (Lucy Siebert)
