Military storms presidential palace in Madagascar

ON Monday, 16 March, one of the Presidential palaces in Antananarivo was seized by military forces supporting the opposition. The President has refused to step down, and has taken refuge outside the capital in another palace, surrounded by a crowd of supporters. Visitors to Antananarivo should avoid the presidential palaces and other areas where protests are taking place. The situation is uncertain and travellers are advised against non-essential travel to Madagascar. This is according to Travelinfo’s City Alerts, a unique reference tool and global travel advisory guide that warns and informs.
