Matroosberg Private Nature Reserve at the Breede River, Western Cape, is very popular in the winter months as guests get to experience snowfall in South Africa.
One day, a gentleman phoned and said he would like to book one of our cabins for him and his girlfriend. He was planning to propose to her during their stay and so, made a very insistent request that we organise that it snows the entire night before so that when morning comes he could propose to his girlfriend amidst a snow-covered setting that gave the feeling of a “winter wonderland”. He even went on to ask my advice on which weekend it would be best to book for, when it would snow the most.
Although it is incredibly romantic, I had to take the time to explain to him that snow, like rain, is part of nature and cannot be predicted.
This week’s smile was submitted by Didi De Kock from Matroosberg Private Nature Reserve.
