MS to resume normal flight schedules on February 10

EGYPTAir has announced that it plans to resume normal flight schedules on February 10. As a result of the protest taking place in the country the airline is operating a revised schedule: flights from Johannesburg depart at 21h45 and flights from Cairo depart at 23h30.

As the current political situation in Egypt enters another week, a group of protestors yesterday (February 7) formed a human chain at Cairo’s Tahrir Square, still demanding that President Hosni Mubarak step down.

According to CNN, this 14th day of protests come after vice president, Omar Suleiman met with representatives of opposition groups on Sunday. Concessions were offered, including a future end to the military emergency law.

Discussions also included free media and communications and plans to form a series of committees to oversee changes aimed at creating a representative government.

However, the meeting did not include all opposition parties, as some questioned the sincerity of yesterday’s meeting and others saying they would not negotiate until Mubarak stepped down.

The government also stood by its position that Mubarak would resign only in September.

The military was reportedly still keeping an eye on Tahrir, though there were some signs of restlessness and efforts were being made to reduce the space available to protesters.

According to media reports, elsewhere in Egypt, life seems to be returning to normal.
