Disney’s newest cruise ship, Disney Wish, arrived at Port Canaveral on June 20 and was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute as hundreds of fans gathered in the early hours along the channel from Jetty Park to the cruise terminals, according to Travel Press.
At Cruise Terminal 10, Captain Minnie Mouse and Captain Mickey Mouse welcomed their newest vessel.
The Disney Wish was christened at a ceremony at the port yesterday (June 29), and its maiden voyage will depart Port Canaveral on July 14.
The ship is powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas) and thus will be homeported at Port Canaveral – the only cruise port in North America to support LNG fuelling of vessels.
The Disney Wish will offer three- and four-night itineraries to the Bahamas, with stops at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.
It is the first of three new ships joining the Disney Cruise Line fleet up to 2025.
