VIA UGANDA, which suspended its operations on Tuesday, having only begun six weeks ago says its online booking engine was the cause of the suspension. The airline said, “We are extremely disappointed with the performance of our on-line booking device. We have found it to be slow and travel agents are still unable to issue tickets. Our projected passenger uplifts have fallen short of expectations." The airline will now evaluate other distribution options. “Once a distribution system has been identified it may take a number of weeks for the system to be ‘customised and tested,” said a VIA Uganda statement. Holiday Aviation, which was the airline's gsa in SA, says passengers holding confirmed reservations on any VIA Uganda flight should contact the airline directly on +09256 41 312-265206 so alternative arrangements can be made.
