Opposition party slam Limpopo's new tourism board ceo

THE Democratic Alliance (DA) has slammed the appointment of controversial Limpopo politician Edgar Mushwana as chief executive of the province's tourism board. Mushwana was most recently axed as education MEC (Minister) following a costly battle with department managers, that eventually forced national government to intervene and caution Mushwana against interfering in administrative matters. The DA warned that Mushwana's 'tainted' image would undermine tourism marketing efforts. The party also claimed Mushwana's appointment ahead of better qualified candidates invited comparisons with corrupt conservation and tourism bodies in neighbouring Mpumalanga. Neither Mushwana or Limpopo Finance MEC Thaba Mufamadi were immediately available for comment. (African Eye News Service)
