Brought to you by eTNW... THE tsunami warning that was issued for the north-eastern coast of Australia yesterday has been lifted. The warning was issued after a powerful earthquake and tsunami hit the Solomon Islands, killing 12 people. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre was reported as saying that although danger was still possible for boats and coastal structures in the Solomon Islands’ immediate are, no tsunami threat existed for other coastal areas in the Pacific. The centre also said that some areas could experience small sea level changes. Chana Viljoen (chanav@nowmedia.co.za)
