Passengers travelling through Heathrow Airport have reported that they are standing in long queues at passport control. According to tweets from passengers on Tuesday evening, November 29, they had been waiting in lines for over an hour. The long queues affected inbound travellers passing through passport control.
Despite the frustrated tweets from passengers, the UK Home Office told eTNW that Border Force had cleared all European Union passport holders within the agreed service standard time of 25 minutes, while non-EU passport holders waited four minutes longer than the service standard of 25 minutes.
“The situation is likely to be even worse in December and travellers can expect to queue for up to an hour,” says John Ridler, pr and media manager of Thompsons Holidays.
John advises that agents add on sufficient time to clear immigration when booking connecting flights within the UK and to EU countries.
