Rave trains make a comeback

To reinvent the traditional rave party, trains in Sydney, Australia, and Nuremberg, Germany, are hosting limited edition and seasonal train raves.

Sydney’s Tekno Train

From May 24 until June 15, Paul Mac, an Australian musician, in partnership with festival organiser, Vivid Sydney, will be hosting one-of-a-kind sensory sound-and-light experiences on trains departing from the city’s Central Station.

The Tekno Train experience will offer two different 60-minute routes.

The Scenic Route offers passengers the chance to take in the sights of North Sydney as the train travels over Sydney Harbour Bridge and down a secret spur line to Lavender Bay. This route is slower and better suited to families with children over five years of age.

The Tech Express route offers ravers a pulsing techno thrill ride through City Circle and South Sydney. This route is a more lively, full-bodied journey for those seeking a fast-paced immersive experience.

Nuremberg’s Techno Train

Twice a year, Nuremberg nightclub Haus 33 hosts its Techno Train events. 700 tickets are available for each journey during which a line-up of around 25 DJs perform on the journey through the Bavarian countryside.

The seven-hour route covers 100km and departs from Nuremberg’s Frankenstadion station before travelling west towards Würzburg and looping back around to Nuremberg Central Station.

The train has 12 carriages, three of which become dance rooms with DJ decks, speakers and bars.
