REZIDOR SAS expects to open 20 hotels in Africa in the foreseeable future. The group has signed a €35m (R288m) financial joint venture agreement with four Nordic government funds, which is expected to accelerate growth in Africa by providing development financing to hotel projects. Currently Rezidor SAS operates two properties in Cape Town; the Radisson Waterfront Hotel and the Park Inn Greenmarket Square. Radisson SAS plans to open a hotel in Lagos and one in Djerba (Tunisia) in the beginning of 2006. The group is also pursuing several projects in South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, DRC and Morocco. (Dorine Berger)
