Road Lodge opens tenth property

THE home-grown budget chain in the JSE-listed City Lodge Hotels group, Road Lodge, has opened its tenth hotel at the Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment Complex on Port Elizabeth's beachfront in the Eastern Cape.
The Road Lodge concept was initiated by the group in 1995 with the first hotel near Johannesburg International Airport. Since then, another has been added near the airport, three have been built in Durban, Nelspruit and Cape Town, and four have been opened in Gauteng at Randburg, Rivonia, Germiston and the Carnival City Casino and Entertainment Complex.
"We have been encouraged by the way the market has taken to Road Lodge and plan to increase our share of the budget end of the hotel market," said Clifford Ross, managing director of City Lodge Hotels.
Next month will also prove a busy one for the group, with the additional opening of a 64-suite Courtyard Suite Hotel next to the Boardwalk Casino as well as a 120-room City Lodge adjacent to the Grandwest casino development in Goodwood, Western Cape.
