Ryanair places massive aircraft order

RYANAIR has announced it intends to purchase 70 B737-800 aircraft, with options for up to 70 more aircraft. The value of the agreement for the 70 aircraft is $4,6bn (R26,88bn). The total value of the deal if all options are exercised is $9,2bn (R53,7bn). Alan Mulally, president and ceo of Boeing, said: “The timing of this order is significant. It secures Ryanair’s ability to lead growth in the low cost segment and demonstrates the airline’s market insight into the recovery taking place in our industry.” (Dorine Berger)
