SA crafts sector growing from strength to strength

SOUTH Africa's craft sector is estimated to employ around 1,2 million people and contribute R3,4bn to the economy each year. This according to an article appearing on SouthAfrica.info - the recently launched SA portal aimed primarily at business people, tourists and expatriates. The report claims that due to the high rate of unemployment in the country, more and more South Africans are turning to making crafts in order to earn a livelihood. According to the South African Crafts Council, there is a great need to make the industry sustainable and improve the quality of the country's crafts. (Miguel de Sousa)
