SA government dismisses "terror" warnings

THE South African government has noted with puzzlement Australian government warnings to its citizens over possible terror attacks in South Africa especially at a time when this country is gearing up to host the Cricket World Cup next month. The government said the Christmas/New Year period went without incident in South Africa and that the country is totally able and prepared to ensure safety and the enjoyment of those foreign visitors who come here as tourists or cricket fans. The statement added that the country met the enormous security challenges of the World Summit on Sustainable Development last year and was confident to do the same with the World Cup.
