SA, Jo’burg popular in UK

PACKAGES to South Africa have become increasingly popular with British travellers, says Marcus McKenzie, SA Tourism’s trade relations manager in the UK. He said: “Johannesburg, particularly, is finding its market and packages that include the sights and sounds of Jo’burg are being sold.” McKenzie was speaking during a trade familiarisation visit to South Africa of Travel 2, one of Britain’s biggest wholesalers of travel and tourism packages. Travel 2 has recently launched a special deal driven campaign aimed at further growing arrivals from the UK with packages to South Africa starting from £599 (R6 850). SA Tourism is collaborating with Travel 2 in the publication of a mini brochure. Seventy thousand copies will be distributed through 6 500 agencies across Britain. SA Tourism is also working with Travel 2 to train British agents on how to sell South Africa effectively and a second Travel 2 campaign is planned for early next year. (Dorine Berger)
