SOUTH African Airways was named best African airline by the Official Airline Guide (OAG) at a ceremony in London. SAA beat other African nominees including Air Mauritius, EgyptAir, Ethiopian Airways and Kenya Airways. Cathay Pacific was named OAG Airline of the Year for 2006 for the first time.
