SAA RECENTLY announced all tickets for travel on affected flights during the strike period could be changed without penalty. The airline said passengers holding an SAA ticket for travel between July 21 and August 5 would be permitted to make one free change to their itinerary or apply for a full refund. If passengers wish to rebook, the re-issuance of tickets must be made before October 31. Passengers can also opt for a 50% refund if one of two sectors are used on a round trip or a full refund if the ticket is unutilised. If one of many sectors of ticket is used, fare construction rules will be used to assess value of refund. If the ticket is non-refundable, the passenger will receive a credit towards travel, provided the document (MCO) is marked non-refundable. Fare rules will be waived where applicable as will cancellation, administration and penalty fees. The 1% agent commission will be waived where ticket has been issued by travel agent within Southern Africa. (Dorine Berger)
