Schedule changes at Kenya Airways

Kenya Airways has introduced several schedule changes that took effect on April 1 as part of its transformation programme which is expected to boost connectivity for passengers by 20%. It coincides with the planned runway upgrade programme by the Kenya Airports Authority that will see Nairobi’s JKIA runway closed for six hours daily, from 12 midnight to 06h00 for the next year.

Flights to the following destinations will increase frequency:

Malindi (from seven to 14 per week)

Mombasa (from 56 to 63 per week)

Kilimanjaro (from one to two flights a day)

Zanzibar (from one to two flights a day)

Lusaka (daily night flight added)

Zambia (daily night flight added)

Lilongwe (daily night flight added)

Maputo (from four to five per week)

Nampula (from three to four per week)

Harare (from 14 to 21 per week)

Kinshasa (now served by the Boeing 878 Dreamliner)

Yaounde (from five per week to daily)

Doula (from five per week to daily)

Dubai (from seven to 11 per week)

Mumbai (from one to two a day on Boeing 787 Dreamliner)

Paris (from five to seven per week)

Furthermore, Kenya Airways will operate a flight between Accra and Monrovia using fifth freedom rights, as part of its Bilateral Air Service Agreement with the governments of Ghana and Liberia. These agreements allow airlines to operate between two cities without returning to the hub.

The flights will operate as the airline awaits clearance by the Kenyan Ministry of Health to resume flights between Nairobi and Monrovia, suspended last year following the Ebola outbreak.
