The Travel News salary poll for last month showed a clear piece of good news. In September, 20% of agents were earning 100% of their normal earnings. In August, this number was only 14%, so the leap of six percentage points was significant.
But the number who answered ‘Unemployed due to Covid’ rose from 13% in August to 15% in September.
The percentage of agents who were earning 39% or less of their normal earnings decreased overall, and the number who were earning 40% or more of their normal earnings overall, increased.
Another significant trend was a sharp drop in the number of agents in the lowest-earning bracket, who said they were earning 0-19% of their former earnings. In August, it was 25% of respondents, but in September, this had fallen to 14%.
